Version 1, 29 September 2026
Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and Christchurch Web Solutions ("we", "us"), who run Mercy's Wake. By creating an account you accept them, and our Privacy Policy. Questions: [email protected].
1. An early game
Mercy's Wake is in early development and free to play. Things will change, break and be rebalanced; we may reset, change or remove characters, items, places and systems as the game grows, and the game may be unavailable at times. We will try to give notice of big changes in the launcher's news.
2. Your account
- You must be 16 or older.
- One person per account. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
- Use an email address you can read: we use it to confirm your account and to let you reset your password.
- Names (of accounts, characters and clans) must not be offensive, impersonate someone, or pretend to be staff. We may ask you to change one, or change it ourselves.
3. Playing fair
Mercy's Wake is a shared world with a player-run economy, so these matter:
- No cheating: no bots, macros that play for you, modified clients, or tools that read or change the game's data or traffic.
- No exploiting bugs. If you find one, please report it to [email protected] instead of using it.
- No buying or selling characters, accounts, items or scrip for real money or anything outside the game.
- No harassment, threats, hate, sexual content involving anyone, sharing other people's personal information, or spam, in chat, mail, names or anywhere else.
- No attacking or overloading our servers, or trying to get into anything that is not yours.
Fighting, stealing and betraying other players inside the game's rules (in the Frontier and the Wastes, for example) is part of the game, not a breach of these terms.
4. Virtual items and scrip
Characters, items, scrip, homes, holdings and everything else in the game have no real-world money value and are not your property. We give you a personal licence to use them in the game, which ends if your account is closed. We may change or remove them, for example to fix a bug or rebalance the game.
5. What you write
You keep what you write, but you allow us to show it in the game and to keep it as our Privacy Policy describes (for example chat, letters and names). We may remove anything that breaks these terms.
6. If the rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is, we may warn, mute, jail, remove items gained unfairly, suspend or permanently close an account. We will usually tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, email [email protected].
7. Our responsibility
The game is provided free and "as is". We do our best to keep it running and your progress safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free, and we are not responsible for loss of virtual items or progress. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
8. Changes and ending
We may update these terms; the version and date above will change, and if a change matters we will ask you to accept it when you next log in. You can stop playing at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). If we ever close the game for good, we will give notice in the launcher's news.
9. The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute, although if you live elsewhere in the UK you may also use your local courts.
